Did you ever notice that significant breakthroughs or accomplishments in your life are often followed by what appear to be major attacks or setbacks?

I sure have.

In fact, this has happened in my life so often that I have found myself not feeling safe enough to celebrate the breakthroughs and instead, ducking to avoid being cold-cocked by the cosmic blow that I am sure is on its way … or simply just running for cover.

So prominent has my knee-jerk reaction been in this area of my life that I can honestly say it has created a major deterrent to accepting the peace and success I so crave. Which is exactly why I have decided to address this topic, because I feel you may be plagued by the same sort of inappropriate reaction to success in your life as well.

I see this routinely happen at my writing retreats, especially with first-time authors. Instead of celebrating that they are writing as they have never written before, as their long-awaited books are pouring out of them, they appear possessed by all the gunk that had been holding them back, sometimes for decades.

This whole, weird reaction of a scenario is referred to by author Catherine Ponder as “chemicalization.”

In essence, chemicalization, as uncomfortable as it may feel, is a natural spiritual response to having taken a step of enlightenment. For when that step is taken, more of God’s loving white light can make room for itself in your body, mind, spirit, and with your emotions. The price you pay for your step of enlightenment is the release of that which was holding you back or reflections of what was holding you back in your newly enlightened areas. Thus, that which was holding you back comes pouring through your consciousness and as it does, it becomes very real. It’s as if your fears, doubts, worries, and concerns are actually manifesting for you right before your eyes. But in reality, they are simply saying a final good-bye as they leave you for good.

So what do you do next time chemicalization happens to you?

Respond instead of reacting from a knee-jerk perspective.

Yes, you heard me right – respond instead of reacting.

Realize that chemicalization is a natural and necessary reaction to any shift of enlightenment in your life. Then, let the results of your chemicalization pass by you, through you, and out of you and get ready for your next enlightening step forward. Then repeat the same exact procedure over and over as you step closer toward your destiny of actualizing the direct connection with the SOURCE that is available to all of us.

Blessings,

Tom
