Book Synopsis
An engaging memoir written by a clinical therapist, Losing Me to be Loved by You, accompanies the author on her search for answers as to why too often she ended up in one painfully romantic relationship after another. Finding it nearly impossible to leave despite her involvement with unavailable, manipulative, or narcissistic types, she’d give away her true self in an effort to be loved. Yet, it wasn’t until enduring a relationship filled with the pain of narcissistic abuse that the author knew something needed to change—and that something needed to be her. From the formative years through her romantic life, the author courageously explores the patterns and behaviors of a woman longing to be loved and an often-misunderstood addiction; to love. In a captivating style that openly displays the power of vulnerability, this intimate and insightful journey shows us how the unhealed wounds of our past can affect the significant choices we make today.
How did Tom’s Method help with the writing/publication of your book the most?
Being able to write this book in 48 hours allowed me to make a dream come true. For years a book was inside of me, but the thought of writing for years turned me off. Having the ability to receive guidance from the first draft through publishing, I felt like a received a real gift from Tom.
What did you learn the most from the writing of your book?
Writing this book was a tremendously healing experience. I was able to see my life and unhealthy patterns with a greater sense of objectivity. Yet, at the same time I could take the time to grieve for the young child I used to be and for the first time develop a beautiful and loving relationship with her.
