The Perfect Gift for the Writer in Your Life

Your Divine Author Within (DAW) really deserves something special this year because you couldn’t have a better friend. Your DAW never stopped believing in you no matter the obstacle, even if your own enthusiasm may have waned over time.So what would be a good gift for Your DAW this holiday season? Or maybe the DAW of a writing buddy or family member who could benefit from a little special attention? That little extra goes a long, long way and produces tremendous benefits. It’s definitely worth making the effort, for when one’s DAW is happy we’re happy. So what’s the best gift to get your DAW or the DAW of someone in your life? Are you going to shop online (in which case, you may want to make sure you’re checking sites like Raise to see if there are any discounts available at popular retailers)? The best way to find the answer to that question [...]

How to be in the Now and Focus for the New Year

I dislike rushing for anything. I’m much more of a glide-through-life, stop-and-smell-the-roses type of guy; just knowing I am in the present. This fact has benefited me greatly, for always knowing where I am enables me to be fully in the state of being referred so eloquently by Eckhart Tolle as “The Now.”To ensure I am fully in The Now, I regularly take time to tune in and see where my soul is. To accomplish this, I perform a version of the following exercise whenever the urge strikes me; it almost always coincides with my soul’s desire to get a message through to me.To perform the exercise I usually set aside a morning or afternoon, but you can take as much or as little time as you need.Today’s Writing ExerciseSet aside a time and place of your choosing.Turn on the meditative Writing Audio that is played at all of our retreats (if you [...]

Inconvenienced by Your Unique Version of Autumn Falls?

Autumn is far and away my most favorite season. So much so that we christened our beloved daughter with the middle name, “Autumn.” Despite my love of it, Autumn is the most trying of all seasons. Somewhere between the end of September and October, all the tasks my soul insists be completed begin to pile up like fallen leaves. Over the last few decades, I’ve noticed this is commonplace, not only in my life but also in the lives of authors I’ve had the pleasure to work with. If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed, caught off-guard or even attacked by unexpected issues or incidents supposedly appearing out of nowhere, you’re not alone. So what do you do when feeling inconvenienced by your unique version of “Autumn Falls?” That’s what this writing exercise is designed to answer for you. Before you write, though, remember to prepare. As with every writing [...]

The Frustrated Writer vs. The Successful Author

There are many negative stereotypes about writing, which are, unfortunately, common assumptions. We, however, have an alternative in the form of countless confirmations that choosing the path of authorship need not predetermine long-suffering, imminent failure, or perpetual pennilessness. The notion that writing and publishing a relevant literary work of art requires years or decades of self-inflicted misery is simply untrue. These unwarranted misrepresentations can keep one’s burning desire to tell a story and share it with the world muffled and weak. In actuality, true emotional pain plagues those who believe there is a book inside of them, destined to be birthed, but not yet brought into the light of reality. Having NOT experienced the healing benefits of releasing their book, they bear the weight of frustration and inauthenticity. Common literary education and training focuses exclusively on left-brain intellectualism. This overly critical perspective thwarts what would otherwise be a beautiful and natural process. [...]

When are the Most Divinely Guided and Open Opportunities to Write?

A recent Blog “1,500 Words per Hour Reconnects to the Inspiration that is Your Book,” included directions to access The Divine Author Within State. In this state, you lose track of time as your pen flies across the page or your fingers move like lightning across the keyboard. Wisdom, guidance, and understanding pour through you. This freedom to heal, to create, and to step into your life’s purpose must be supported by generating the space and time for it. Often, when suffering, we use the lack of time as our greatest excuse for not facing that which needs to be faced. Here is the good news: the directness and efficiency of this method doesn’t require a lot of time, but does need devoted space and alone time.Early in the morning, in the middle of the night, or after waking from a deep sleep or nap are the most open opportunities to write because the physical, [...]

1500 Words per Hour Reconnects to the Inspiration that is Your Book

To begin on the most-exciting-of-all-journeys in writing, we must first understand why and how we strayed off the divine path we now seek and how we got so mucked up.Allow me to get right to the point so you can get back to where you long to return as quickly as possible. There are four aspects to every being: the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Each of these is comprised of the exact same energy. What differs is the denseness. The physical is easily the densest, followed by the mental, the emotional, and then the spiritual. The Ultimate Spirit/Force, from which we were all born, is even lighter and less dense than the spirit within each of us. To directly connect with The Ultimate Spirit/Force, which is our divine birthright, we must raise our vibrational level above that of the mental, physical, and emotional sides of ourselves. You may already have innocently experienced this [...]
